Effective Mental Health and Pastoral Care in Schools

Friday 4th October 2024

Effective Mental Health and Pastoral Care in Schools is a one-day conference on Friday 4th October 2024 giving all teaching staff practical insights, ideas and interventions to support good mental health and pupil wellbeing.

NHS research shows one in five children and young people have a probable mental health condition such as anxiety and self-harm. More widely, the cost of living is pushing more families into poverty, raising the importance of the pastoral work of schools. In addition, the complex needs of students with SEND so often overlap with wider pastoral and mental health needs.

Hosted by SecEd and Headteacher Update, the event features presentations, case studies and school-led workshops targeting primary and secondary.

It will cover preventative work, including spotting the signs of emerging problems, as well as ensuring proper support systems are in place to help children, young people and families.
